These Kids Wear Crowns to headline Niagara College Night at Food Fest

Capitol/EMI recording artists These Kids Wear Crowns will headline Niagara College Night at the Niagara Food Festival, September 7 in downtown Welland. The Canadian band will headline a Friday-night bill that will also include local independent recording artists Street Pharmacy.

Niagara College Night is part of Niagara College’s title sponsorship of the Peninsula’s Tastiest Party, and replaces the on-campus concert that has traditionally been a part of Niagara College’s Orientation week. This year’s Niagara Food Festival runs September 7, 8 and 9.

“We’re very excited to combine one of the signature events of our Orientation with one of Welland’s signature community events,” said Gord Hunchak, NC’s Associate Vice President, Communications and Planning. “With top-notch entertainment and delicious local food, all in a beautiful downtown setting, Niagara College Night promises to be the perfect cap-off for our Orientation Week, and a great way to kick off a successful year.”

For Niagara College Night, Niagara College will provide transportation to-and-from the Festival for students from both main campuses. To ensure a safe and successful event, the partners have also committed to providing enhanced security, as well as implementing a wrist-band policy for the sale of wine and beer at this year’s Festival.

The Niagara Food Festival also announced a Saturday night bill that will include popular Rolling Stones tribute act Hot Rocks, along with local favourites Sister Act and Jonesy.

Other acts confirmed for the Festival include LMT Connection, Pauly and the Goodfellas, The Sensational Hot Rods and Orangemen. The full entertainment schedule for the 2012 Niagara Food Festival will be posted in the coming weeks on

Currently in its 19th year, the Niagara Food Festival draws tens of thousands of visitors to Downtown Welland each year. Consistently rated among Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals and Events, the Peninsula’s Tastiest Party is a three-day event that features food vendors from across southern Ontario, entertainment, a marketplace featuring local food producers, food-themed contests and top culinary talent on the Mobile Culinary Theatre.
