NC loses colleague and friend – updated

Niagara College lost a valued colleague and friend February 6 with the sudden passing of Anita Beaulieu, Second Career Advisor in Enrolment Services. She is survived by her husband, Dan, and children Luke, Jillian and Jennifer.

Anita joined Niagara College in July, 1989, as a clerk in the Accounting department. In 2005 she moved to the Enrolment Services department as a clerk, before taking on the role of Second Career Advisor in 2008. As Second Career Advisor, Anita worked with laid-off or unemployed workers who were returning to school to pursue new careers. She provided advice and assistance to applicants as they navigated the province’s Second Career program, and played a key role in helping these students achieve their goals and find new careers.

Today, her colleagues are remembering a dedicated team member who showed commitment and compassion for students.

Anita’s family will receive friends at the J.J. Patterson and Sons Funeral Residence, 19 Young Street, Welland, on Thursday, February 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, February 10 at 11 a.m.

College flags have been lowered to honour Anita’s memory. The thoughts and condolences of the Niagara College community are with Anita’s family at this difficult time.
