November offers several opportunities to recognize Indigenous histories, cultures, contributions, and ongoing relationships which encourage us to deepen our understanding and continue the journey toward Truth and Reconciliation.<\/p>\n

Treaties Recognition Week: November 1-7, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Treaties Recognition Week in Ontario is a time to learn about the importance of treaties, reflect on our shared responsibilities, and continue the journey toward Truth and Reconciliation.<\/p>\n

Established in 2016, Treaties Recognition Week was the first legislation of its kind in Canada, declaring the first full week of November as an opportunity for all Ontarians to deepen their understanding of treaty rights and relationships. The week honours the ongoing significance of treaties in shaping the places where we live, work, and learn.<\/p>\n

Learning Resources<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Students and employees are encouraged to mark Treaties Recognition Week by exploring educational materials available through NC’s Indigenous Education Sources page<\/a>, accessible through the Libraries and Learning Centres.<\/p>\n

The Libraries and Learning Centres at both campuses will feature displays of curated print books, eBooks, and other resources related to treaties, Indigenous histories, and treaty relationships.<\/p>\n
