This course covers applications of photonics to imaging and image processing. The student will review material on optical imaging and study film photography, digital photography, and computer vision. Image processing subject matter will include sampling theory, filtering, feature extraction and digitizing, Fourier transforms and noise in imaging systems. Display devices will be studied, including CRTs, LCDs, and plasmas.
