This introductory course will focus on developing your understanding of soil science. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in classifying soil and identifying its properties. Subjects to be covered will include basic geology; weathering processes; soil formation and soil formation processes; soil classification and identification; the soil erosion issue; the relationship of rock, soil and water flow; pollution, wastes and environmental impacts on soils; and the links with other environmental systems. The lab program will allow you to practice techniques that identify physical, chemical and biological parameters of soil.
