This course provides an in-depth introduction to the operating principles of discrete electronic devices and circuits. You begin by learning basic electronic fundamentals and then investigate solid-state principles and how they relate to commonly used discrete electronic devices. You will analyze, calculate and construct basic dc power supply circuits and then advance to zener diode voltage regulator circuits. You will predict power supply voltage output and current limitations. In the latter half of the course, you will study bipolar junction transistor theory and analyze basic transistor biasing circuits and how they are used in audio and other applications. Emphasis is placed on practical circuit application, troubleshooting and design.
