This course provides a study of historical and current issues facing the elementary and secondary school system. You will gain an understanding of the development stages of school-aged children, how the needs of identified students are met in special education, and the role of the educational assistant in the provision of special education services in Ontario. Factors influencing student performance, principles of effective behaviour management, and theories in learning and strategies to enhance learning will be explored.
