\r\n The goal of the Business and Management (B+M) stream, led by Dr. Susan Ehlert PhD, at the Centre for Research in Education, is to foster a welcoming scholarly \u201ccommunity\u201d and to be trail-blazing with innovative B+M scholarly research.<\/div>\r\n\n\n\n

The B+M Stream promotes the importance and develops opportunities for faculty scholarship.  It offers faculty who are passionately pursuing scholarly B+M research a \u201ccommunity\u201d to interact with, share, mutually assist, and exchange information and resources. The B+M scholarly research stream could include human resources management, information technology, management and governance, organizational strategy, supply chain and operations, finance and accounting, sales, customer service, and marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n

Dr. Susan Ehlert<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

PhD, MS.Ed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business + Management Stream Research Lead<\/em><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Susan Ehlert is an Ontario Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and an active member of the Human Resources Professional Association; she completed her PhD in Business Management: Human Resources Management (HRM<\/em>) and a Master of Science in Education<\/em> in the United States. Susan’s HRM research has largely focused on the micro level, examining the interpersonal dynamics of workforces. Her master\u2019s research applied complaint theory and cultural dimension models in a post-secondary educational context. To examine cross-cultural differences in post-secondary student complaint behaviors. Doctoral work expanded the boundaries of social exchange theory to help organizations better understand how trust, reciprocal relations, and knowledge-sharing behaviors are impacted when teams operate virtually. of new knowledge in the field of language education for adult learners. <\/div>\r\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative is engaged in a diverse array of national and international projects, which explore key areas such as language teaching methodologies, the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), linguistic mediation, the Action-Oriented Approach, plurilingualism, and pluriculturalism. As an integral component of the Centre, the Language Education Stream aims to cultivate a dynamic community of practice, serving as a nexus for language education scholars to collaborate, exchange expertise, and engage in innovative research methodologies. Through these collaborative efforts, the stream seeks to contribute to the ongoing development of the field. He is a certified Canadian simulation and nurse educator with the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN). Dr. Odreman holds a Ph.D. in Education specializing in Adult Education Leadership and Healthcare Education and a Master of Science in Nursing Education. With over 25 years of professional and academic experience in teaching and learning, best practices in curriculum design, evidence-based nursing practice, and educational research, Dr. Odreman contributes to the art and science of teaching and learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key areas of expertise include curriculum design, evidence-based practice in teaching and learning, simulation-based learning, clinical teaching, and faculty and staff professional development. of support for faculty pursuing diverse research projects in educational technology, including experimental, theoretical, classroom-based, and action-oriented approaches. <\/div>\r\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative allows faculty to explore the transformative role of research in educational technology, focusing on areas of research such as AI, immersive and extended reality, digital learning platforms, and inclusive, equitable teaching practices. She has a PhD in Language and Literacies Education from the Collaborative Knowledge Media Design Program in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Dr. Marcel is a member of the Research Ethics Board at Niagara College, and she serves as an Advisory Council Board Member for the Ontario Council of Community Interpreters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has over 25 years of experience in the field of language education, and her research interests include the investigation and implementation of plurilingual pedagogies and educational technologies, including Extended Realities (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language learning and other academic contexts. class=\"introduction b xs\">\r\n Dr. Giacomo Folinazzo \u2014 Head of the Centre of Research in Education<\/div>\r\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Giacomo Folinazzo holds a PhD in Language and Literacies Education from Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE)- University of Toronto. With over 20 years of experience teaching languages across Canada, Italy and Japan, he has lectured on a diverse range of subjects, including language, culture, communication, second language learning and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), at various post-secondary institutions. Currently, Dr. Folinazzo is a professor at Niagara College in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niagaracollege.ca\/english\/\">School of English Language Studies<\/a>. His most recent research projects in language education and teacher training include collaboration with Italy\u2019s Ministry of Education on the Divari project. Expanding from this study, this talk will discuss current scholarly and institutional discussions in relation to the concept of Critical AI Literacy\u2014the ability to critically analyze and ethically integrate AI tools into academic practices (Strauss, 2021). Through interactive discussions, participants will explore the challenges and opportunities AI presents for English Language classrooms specifically on how AI literacy can support or hinder integrity, equity, and inclusivity in higher education. Anna will share what action research might look like, how an action research project can unfold from classroom practice, and explore the concept of inquiry into teaching practices for the purpose of improving student learning. The talk will also highlight the direction an action research project may take and its impact on learners as well as teachers. She will expand on her action research projects in her talk and draw connections to the journey she has taken as an educator through public and private reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on her discussion of action research and inquiry into teaching practices, Anna Bartosik will also touch on how engaging in actional research can challenge and reshape teacher identities. the\u00a0<strong>6th Symposium of Southern Ontario Universities (2025).\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0This marks not only the first time a college has joined this longstanding academic collaboration, but also the first time the event will be held by Niagara College. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Symposium will take place at Niagara College’s DJP campus\u00a0on\u00a0<strong>October 24\u201325, 2025<\/strong>, and it brings together a vibrant international community of scholars, educators, and practitioners. The symposium is free to attend (no fees) but please note that we will only grant access to <strong>registered<\/strong> in-person and online attendees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find more information on the attached flyer.
