This four-session program gives educators space to make sense of those changes, reconnect with what they believe about teaching and learning, consider student needs, and make personal choices about how they want their teaching to evolve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is this program for?<\/strong><br \/>\nThis program is for faculty who are interested in thinking more deeply about their role as educators in a changing post-secondary environment.<\/p>\n<p>It may be especially valuable if you are:<br \/>\n\u2022 noticing that some of the ways we have traditionally taught, assessed, or engaged students no longer work as well as they once did;<br \/>\n\u2022 wondering how AI, changing student needs, workforce expectations, and other pressures should or should not influence your teaching;<br \/>\n\u2022 interested in examining the beliefs and assumptions that shape your teaching choices;<br \/>\n\u2022 looking for ways to become more intentional about the learning experiences you design;<br \/>\n\u2022 curious about the kind of educator you want to be as higher education continues to change.<\/p>\n<p>This is not a program about being told how you should teach. It is an opportunity to examine what you believe, consider what is changing, and make more personal choices about your own practice. You do not need to be an expert in AI, educational theory, or learning design; however, you will be encouraged to reflect, question, discuss, and experiment with your thinking. Please note that you may be asked to complete \u201chomework\u201d between sessions that will take no more than one hour of your time total.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Four Sessions<\/strong><br \/>\nThis program is designed to run over four sessions to allow for a connected learning opportunity where each session builds on the other. Your presence in all sessions matters not only for your own learning, but also for the learning of the group. Over the four sessions, we hope to create enough continuity and trust for participants to move beyond sharing strategies and into some of the more interesting questions underneath them.<\/p>\n<p>We will begin by examining some of the assumptions that have shaped teaching and learning, including our own beliefs about students, learning, and the educator\u2019s role. From there, we will explore what is changing around us and what those changes challenge us to reconsider. The later sessions are about who you want to be as an educator in this environment, and how that might show up in the learning you design and your teaching practices.<\/p>\n<p>Here is how the learning journey is envisioned:<\/p>\n<p>Session 1 \u2013 What do I believe and what has shaped that?<br \/>\nSession 2 \u2013 What is changing, and what is mine to influence?<br \/>\nSession 3 \u2013 Who do I want to be as an educator within all the change that is happening?<br \/>\nSession 4 \u2013 What does that look like in my classroom, my curriculum, and my expectations of students?<\/p>\n<p>Dates:<br \/>\n\u2022 Wed. Participants come together virtually to discuss key impressions of the selected resource and reflect on how the themes explored in the resource relate to our lived experiences as educators. Join colleagues from Niagara, Fanshawe, Lambton, and St. Clair Colleges in a guided conversation to discuss your insights and reflections on the resource below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This conversation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supporting students and maintaining high expectations are sometimes treated as competing priorities. If we extend a deadline, are we being compassionate or lowering expectations? If we hold firm to a standard, are we supporting student development or failing to recognize the realities students are navigating?<\/p>\n<p>The concept of the warm demander offers another way to think about this tension. Warm demanders combine genuine care, trust, and belief in students with high expectations and a willingness to challenge them.
