NC hosts Niagara’s Top Mixologist Competition

Niagara College hospitality and tourism students are looking for the region’s top mixologist.

As part of the College’s annual Spring Open House on March 28 students in Niagara College’s Hospitality and Tourism Management (Graduate Certificate) program will host the Niagara’s Top Mixologist competition. The contest will be judged by local industry professionals and the winning entry will be served to more than 100 guests at the opening reception of Rendez-vous Canada in May 2015. Rendez-vous Canada is the country’s premier international tourism tradeshow which draws more than 1500 international and domestic tourism professionals.

“We are extremely excited to host this mixologist event at Niagara College” said Lauren Charette a Hospitality and Tourism Management student who is the contest’s event coordinator. “This is a great opportunity for Niagara residents to put their drink mixing skills on display while learning from some of the top professionals in the industry. For us as students this competition is a unique way to gain hands-on experience while developing important contacts in industry.”

The winner of this competition will be awarded the title of Niagara’s Top Mixologist 2015 and will be invited to attend the opening reception of Rendez-vous Canada at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls in May where the winning creation will be served to hundreds. The competition is open to all ages. Entrants must be a resident of Niagara or enrolled at a post-secondary institution in the Niagara region.
