Overview

This eight-month graduate certificate program prepares learners for high-demand roles in data management and analytics.

Graduates will develop the skills to extract meaningful insights from large, complex data sets to support data-driven decision-making. Students will learn to collect, analyze, and visualize data to address current and emerging business challenges. The ability to interpret data and predict patterns is an increasingly critical skill in today’s data-centric world.

  1. Analyze, organize, and manipulate data to support problem solving, business decision- making, and opportunity identification.

  2. Develop statistical and predictive models that use operation and marketing data to identify patterns and provide insights to business stakeholders.

  3. Assess and apply business intelligence and Big Data tools appropriate to the business decisions, business problems, and data movement and system workloads.

  4. Prepare and communicate complex materials visually, verbally, in writing, and digitally for a variety of audiences, purposes, and levels of detail.

  5. Analyse and interpret data as it relates to various aspects of a business organization’s readiness to change.

  6. Conduct data analysis and research in a respectful, legal, and ethical manner that protects privacy and maintains dignity to all involved.

  7. Deliver data-oriented projects using data science, business analysis, and project management principles, tools, and techniques to ensure clients’ business needs are achieved.

Computer Requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring that they have a Microsoft Windows-based desktop or laptop that meets or exceeds the following general requirements:

  • A desktop or laptop running on an updated Microsoft Windows operating system (Windows 11 recommended).
  • Minimum 256GB SSD storage and 8 GB memory (note that 16 GB memory is strongly recommended).
  • An integrated or peripheral video camera, microphone, and speaker system.
  • Reliable internet connectivity with Broadband capabilities. A minimum download speed of 10 – 50 Mbps is recommended.

Niagara College may not be able to provide support for systems different than the above specifications as provided software may not operate properly. Academic software for your courses will be made available for download and remote use. Access will also be provided to remote high performance computer labs if software downloads are not feasible.
