Kim is a Professor in Niagara College’s School of Trades, Welding Apprenticeship program. Kim holds a CSA W178.2 Level 3 Welding Inspector certification and is certified as an International Welding Specialist (IWS) with the International Institute of Welding (IWS). Kim also earned his Red Seal endorsement as a Welder.
Previous to teaching, Kim was the owner of a custom welding and fabricating shop that specialized in large structural steel projects, welding of exotic alloys, production welding and custom fabrications such as large hoppers and chutes for mining and steel industries.
Kim currently works as a certification services representative with the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB), which includes auditing and ensuring the compliance of certified companies in Canada and the USA to the CSA W47.1, W47.2, W186, W178.1 standards, testing of welding personnel to the various CSA welding standards, as well as visits to construction job sites to ensure compliance with the requirements of CSA S16.1 by various fabricators and erectors.
