Calling all Niagara-based charitable organizations: Need a small upgrade to your facility or programming?
Applications are currently being accepted for Niagara College’s next Many Hands Project.
Managed by the College’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Sport, and faculty and students from the Event Management program, the annual Many Hands Project has been making its mark on the Niagara region for the past 20 years, by providing facility upgrades to local non-profit organizations.
After two decades of success, the College will kick-start its 21st annual Many Hands Project with a new focus on smaller scale projects that involve a one- or two-day facility rejuvenation. Projects will fall within an approximate budget of $5,000 – for example, a new coat of paint, new flooring, a new look to an outdoor space, and/or initiatives that aim to improve programming.
“While equipping our students with the valuable hands-on skills and real-world experience they need to succeed in the industry, we take pride in the fact that our project will continue to build on its legacy of assisting non-profits that contribute so positively to our Niagara communities,” said Christine Blane, professor and coordinator of the Event Management program. “There are many non-profits that could use alternative levels of support and the Many Hands Project has positioned itself to reach out.”
Students from the College’s post-graduate Event Management program will plan, manage and host a fundraising event to support this year’s project. The facility upgrade will be completed by a team of volunteers from the College, the recipient organization, and the community.
Applicants must be a non-profit agency in Niagara that serves the community. Those interested in becoming the recipient of the next Many Hands Project may access an application at www.niagaracollege.ca/manyhands
Applications must be submitted for consideration by August 24, 2017. The selected recipient organization is expected to be announced this fall.
