The Welland Campus maintains both radio and television close-circuit programming for educational, cultural and recreational purposes.
Radio – CRNC The Heat 90.1 FM (Campus Radio Niagara College)
CRNC is the FM radio station for Niagara College. Located at the Welland Campus on Woodlawn Road, CRNC transmits its signal at 90.1 FM twenty-four hours daily and covers a listening area of approximately 300 square kilometres.
During the regular academic terms students produce and broadcast regular news updates, special events coverage, music and specialty programs along with top national and international stories.
Music of today is blended with classics from yesterday. Special interviews from the entertainment world are featured regularly on CRNC. Student Council events are promoted as well as interesting area events and concerts on the Concert Calendar and the Entertainment File.
CRNC is operated by the students of the Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film program at Niagara College and speakers are located throughout the Welland Campus. Students are in charge of the day-to-day operations of the station, from programming and promotions to music and sales.
The Niagara College Broadcasting Department maintains a divisional web site at broadcasting.niagaracollege.ca, which features an Internet radio webcast of the campus radio station CNRC ‑ The Heat 90.1 FM.
The Campus Newspaper - Journalism-Print Program
Second-year Journalism-Print program students produce the campus newspaper as part of a practical lab experience to keep students, staff and faculty up-to-date on college news.
Coverage includes student events, administrative news as it affects the college community and students, in particular, sports and feature stories.
Suggestions for stories and pictures are welcomed. Comments on reports or Letters to the Editor are also appreciated. The newspaper carries advertising of interest to college students as well.
