Dr. Marc Nantel recently joined Niagara Research as its first Associate Vice President.

Dr. Nantel leads Niagara Research, Niagara College’s research and innovation department, which partners with business, industry and other organizations to carry out applied research projects that encourage innovation and help bring new ideas to market.

He joins Niagara College from Ontario Centres of Excellence, where he was Director of Research, Commercialization and Talent programs, Lead on Advanced Health Care Technologies and responsible for OCE’s nanotechnology interests. He has extensive experience in research, commercialization and project development, and has worked to establish photonics education and training programs at Ontario colleges and universities – including Niagara College.

“One of my goals would be to ensure that any Niagara College student who wants to participate or have a role in applied research, has that opportunity,” said Dr. Nantel. “I’d like to ensure that Niagara Research is seen as a valuable partner with other institutions and companies, helping fuel economic development and creating unique and valuable learning opportunities for our students.”

Dr. Nantel is no stranger to Niagara College; he was instrumental in the development of NC’s Photonics programs, and he has been a member of the Niagara College Board of Governors since 2006. He said his familiarity with Niagara College, especially its ongoing commitment to student success and satisfaction, fuelled interest in joining Niagara Research.
