Jennifer Murphy is a project coordinator with Niagara Research, overseeing all the projects being undertaken by Niagara College students and staff in the technical file.

Technical areas of expertise at Niagara College include photonics, mechanical engineering, electronics and advanced visualization, which includes digital 3D mapping.

These projects often include complex technical processes, such as the use of laser optics or the creation of digital three-dimensional renderings, giving students a hands-on, state-of-the-art education.

“It’s definitely expanding my knowledge base, which is great because I’m motivated by challenges,” Jennifer said. “I meet new people every day and I learn new things all the time. I also have a greater appreciation of the excellent, ground-breaking work that local companies are doing right in our own backyard.”

Jennifer came to Niagara College in February 2010, working with both the Research and Innovation department and the International Education department, primarily in the areas of strategic communications and event management.

In December 2011, Jennifer became a project manager with Niagara Research, keeping track of the progress of several projects, coordinating meetings with students, staff and industry partners and managing budgets and timelines.

Prior to her work with Niagara Research, Jennifer worked as a national product manager with a consumer-packaged goods company, helping grow the company’s brand and sales across Canada with several large suppliers.

Before that, she worked with Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Shaw Festival Theatre in a communications capacity, her first major role after graduating from Niagara College Public Relations post-graduate program in 2004. Jennifer has an honours degree in Environmental Science at the University of Guelph.

A native of Vineland, her interests include ultimate Frisbee, reading and food and wine.
