The Niagara Environmental Corps (NEC) is a student driven organization established at Niagara College with a mandate to increase environmental awareness. The goal of the organization is to empower students to be pro-active in solving environmental issues and to become the leaders of the evolution towards the building of healthy and sustainable communities.

The NEC is a volunteer organization. Volunteering is a truly rewarding experience, giving students a chance to discover their strengths and to be part of a team. Those who volunteer with the NEC gain valuable experience in their field of work, while building their resumes and portfolios.

Since 2007, the NEC has partnered with Niagara Research to provide opportunities for student involvement in applied research initiatives with companies and community organizations throughout the Niagara Region. In addition to other activities of significance within the community, the Niagara Environmental Corps participates in projects that have included ecosystem restoration, site remediation and wetland conservation.
