Niagara College recognizes the importance of a memorable start to each student's college experience. First-year students are invited to participate in our annual January Orientation event that includes program information sessions and campus tours.

Things to Do

Get your Orientation Bag and SAC Handbook when you arrive on campus on the 7th or 8th. Go to your main entrances and/or near the cafeteria foyer at both Niagara-on-the-Lake and Welland campuses for pick up.

Program Information Sessions
Program Information Sessions take place on the first day of orientation.

Photo ID
Your photo ID allows you access to the gym, library services, photocopying and printing services, computer lab services and your regional bus pass.

Don't wait in line - get your photo ID ahead of time! Simply visit the link below and follow the instructions for submitting your photo online. Then just pick it up at your InfoCentre and avoid those long waits during the first week of school!

Text Books, Supplies & Parking Permits
Make sure you register for a parking pass online via the Student Portal for the coming new year. You can purchase all of your supplies and pick up parking permits at the Campus Store.

Get Connected @ Niagara
Visit the labs to learn how to access your Computer ID, log on for the first time, create your personal portal, access your timetables and so on. Drop into the lab in S109 at the Welland Campus or in N201/N202 at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus.

OSAP Student Loan Pick-up
For information about OSAP distribution times and what you need to bring with you, please see the OSAP Distribution web section.

Visit the Student Centres
Visit the Student Centres for great deals, healthy food choices, and live entertainment throughout the year. The Student Centres have made great strives to provide 100% complete compostable serving containers and utensils. To serve you better, the student centres also accepts debit.

Visit The Armoury at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus, or After Hours at the Welland campus.

Open Gym
Gyms and fitness centres are open to all students with their Photo ID. (Subject to availability around scheduled class time.) This is a great opportunity to meet people from other programs or cities.

First Generation Student?

If your parents or guardians did not attend college or university, then you are a First Generation Student.

Transportation Between Campuses

Are you a student that will be attending your Program Information Session at the Welland Campus? Not to worry, you won’t miss out on any of the fun January 8th!

Several busses will be leaving the Welland Campus to bring students to Niagara-on-the-Lake to enjoy a free lunch and a key note speaker, along with some live entertainment. This is a great opportunity to meet a wide variety of Niagara College students and faculty from different campuses, programs, and cities.

Stay tuned for bus scheduling information.

Busses will run from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Welland between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the 8th, also between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. in order to view the movie. Students can return to Niagara-on-the-Lake at 5:00 p.m. or after the movie at 10:30 p.m.

Busses will also run on the 9th from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Welland at 6:00 p.m. Students can return to Niagara-on-the-Lake at 10:30 p.m.
