Photography Editing Fundamentals
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of digital photo editing which can be applied to both personal and commercial purposes using Adobe Photoshop as the image editor. Topics include: cropping, re-sizing, understanding dpi, using levels, concept of layers, colour and exposure correction, applying filters, image adjustments, various workflow strategies and creative assembly of layers. Students will learn basic photo re-touching of the face (eyes, teeth, skin and blemishes), converting colour photos to black and white, and photo enhancement. Special focus is given to diagnosing what a photo/subject needs and how to make those edits by understanding the fundamentals of editing techniques. Additionally, preparing collages and custom layouts for output in print for books, canvas and prints, as well as web applications.
