Digital Darkroom I - Photo Editing, Intro
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of digital photo editing which can be applied to both personal and commercial purposes using ADOBE Photoshop as the image editor. Photographs will be supplied for each workshop session, but students are invited to bring their personal photographs to work on as well. Topics include: cropping, re-sizing, understanding dpi, using levels, using layers, transforming, colour and exposure correction and applying filters. Additionally, students will learn basic photo re-touching of the face (eyes, teeth, skin and blemishes), converting colour photos to black and white, and photo enhancement. Preparing collages, facebook timeline images and custom layouts for output into books, canvas and prints are also covered. Special focus is given to diagnosing what a photo/subject needs and how to make those edits by understanding the fundamentals of editing techniques.
