Leisure Lifestyles and Employment Alternatives

Course Code: HDEV1070C

This course is designed for people who work with individuals with developmental disabilities to assist them in making informed choices about their employment, leisure and lifestyle options. You will examine philosophies such as normalization, integration, quality of life, barriers to participation and methods of accommodation. A survey of generic community services, specialized programs and resources will be completed. Emphasis will be placed on how contributing factors such as families, employment settings, educational options and environmental barriers can impact their choices. As an employee in this field, you will be one of those factors.
