Bee Hive Products - Health and Well Being

Course Code: GENI1178C

From ancient Egyptian times to the present, the benefits of beehive products for health and well-being have been proclaimed. Honey is the most recognized and consumed of all bee products, but others such as bee pollen, royal jelly, propolis, wax, and even bee venom are also significant, although less mainstream. Students will be introduced to the therapeutic use of natural bee products, called Apitherapy, and will discover how bee products have historically played a large role in healing and disease prevention. This session will also highlight the important impact bees have on the environment and ecosystem as well. Students will then get involved in the hands-on component of the seminar to make their own natural bee product lip balms and moisturizers to take home. Materials included in the fee.
