Essentials of Workplace Communication

In this course you will develop the fundamental technical, business and oral communication skills required of employees in the trades. Field-related assignments will give you the necessary practice to improve these skills and familiarize you with typical requirements from supervisors. The course stresses adapting communication to the needs of the intended audience, selecting the appropriate strategy, and using an effective communication style. Upon completion of this course, you will be more adept at analyzing real-world writing scenarios; writing clearly and concisely; developing clear explanations and arguments; using research from quality sources; writing effective sentences; and speaking professionally.
