Occupation Specific Language Training (OSLT) *
Niagara College offers the OSLT (Occupation Specific Language Training) courses to newcomers who already have experience or training in Business, Health Sciences or Technology.
OSLT in Business
This practical and innovative course will help you:
- Understand business workplaces in Ontario
- Clearly and effectively interact with customers, suppliers, financial officers and government officials
- Develop strong interviewing, networking and career-building communication skills
This course is for your if you have training or experience in:
- running your own business
- accounting
- hospitality
OSLT in Health Sciences
This practical and innovative course will help you:
- Understand health care workplaces in Ontario such as hospitals, clinics and nursing homes
- Clearly and effectively interact with colleagues, clients and supervisors
- Develop strong interviewing, networking and career-building communication skills
This course is for you if you have training or experience in:
- nursing
- personal support work
- dental hygiene
OSLT in Technology
This practical and innovative course will help you:
- Understand technology workplaces in Ontario
- Clearly and effectively interact with colleagues, clients, supervisors and stakeholders, and in project teams
- Develop strong interviewing, networking, and career-building communication skills
This course is for you if you have training or experience in:
- engineering
- information
- architectural
- environmental technology
Admission Requirements for the three courses are:
- English proficiency is at an intermediate level (Canadian Language Benchmarks 6 to 8)
- Your status in Canada is as a permanent resident or convention refugee
- Qualified candidates will be asked to attend an interview as part of the selection process
