  • Are you a community minded individual who wants to make a difference?
  • Are you newly retired, semi-retired or contemplating retirement?
  • Do you want to contribute your skills, knowledge and expertise back into your community?
  • Would you like to learn about the trends, issues and opportunities in Niagara?

If so, we are looking for you to be a participant in our four week Legacy Leadership Program

Background

A recent Niagara voluntary sector study demonstrated Niagara, like other Canadian and American communities, faces certain challenges in the coming years. In particular, at the same time an increasingly diverse population demonstrates steady reliance on voluntary organizations for programs and services, these agencies face public and private funding cuts and a decrease of available volunteers.

This survey also suggested these challenges can be addressed by connecting the considerable depth of skills, knowledge and insights of the many talented individuals who are currently considering, or have reached, the early years of retirement to innovative programs that will add both substance and meaning to this exciting phase of life while simultaneously building the capacity of the community to resolve serious social problems.

Principles

  • A belief in the future of the Niagara Region and its communities
  • A belief that retirees have much to contribute to the future of Niagara
  • A belief in the value of continued learning and of the importance of sharing that with others
