A video streaming service is available to share your videos with students and employees. This service protects Niagara College proprietary and intellectual property and should be used for such videos in place of video sharing sites e.g. YouTube.
The new streaming service provides support for MPEG4 (HTML5 standard) and legacy FLV (Adobe Flash Video) formats to display a wide variety of user-generated and corporate media videos. The MPEG4 format has become the latest standard and allows for delivery on most new and mobile devices. Please be aware MPEG4 format may be unsupported by older devices and web browsers. Please note: As video format standards vary between vendors, you should make sure to always test your videos in advance of making them available to your audience to ensure compatibility.
Visit http://streamingnc.niagaracollege.ca to connect to the service with your College username and password and upload and manage your videos. Videos are stored within your own individual folder and your unique naming conventions of the video files you upload provide for better security against unauthorized playback of videos or videos you don’t want accessed at this time. Outside users cannot browse your video files.
To view and share uploaded videos with students and employees the system generates an external link to your video you can easily publish within Blackboard, post on the Niagara College website or email to your intended viewing audience.
Detailed information may be found on the ITS website including information on available file conversion tools. If you have any questions or require further information please contact the ITS Helpdesk by emailing ITSHelpdesk@niagaracollege.ca or calling x7642.
