Niagara College Public Relations students stepped out of the classroom and into the industry on October 12, as part of class field trip to Toronto.

Their first stop was to Steam Whistle Brewing, where marketing director Sybil Taylor – whose husband was one of three founders of the popular brewery – gave students valuable insight into strategic PR, promotions and digital strategies utilized to promote a premium pilsner. This was followed by a brewery tour and tasting.

Their second destination was to visit NC PR grad Stephanie Porter (class of 2010-2011), who is now working at one of Toronto’s top agencies, Paradigm PR. On their visit to the downtown agency, students learned about a ‘day-in-the-life’ of an agency practitioner, received tips on how to break into the industry, and were given a tour of the office.

This was the fourth annual class field trip to Toronto for NC’s PR students.
