Campus Labs has announced Niagara College as the winner of its first-ever CollegiateLink Campus of the Year Award. Selected from colleges and universities from across Canada and the United States, the award recognizes an outstanding campus that is utilizing one of its student engagement platforms – CollegiateLink or OrgSync – to its full potential and has integrated it into multiple areas of the campus.

Niagara College has been using CollegiateLink since 2012 as part of its Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership’s Get Involved Co-Curricular Record Portal. The portal is used to promote awareness of campus and community opportunities, to maximize student involvement, and to track the institutional impact of engagement. From May 2015 to April 2016, more than 4,500 NC students used the Get Involved Co-Curricular Record portal.

“Student engagement, both in and out of the classroom, is a key area of focus at Niagara College and this award means so much for us. Our campus engagement is what makes our campus life so rich and diverse,” said Lesley Calvin, NC’s manager of Student Engagement and Leadership. “We truly feel that receiving this award from Campus Labs honours and recognizes the amazing culture of involvement on our campuses.”

Niagara College was one of seven post-secondary institutions honoured with a Campus Labs Student Engagement Award on June 17 at the 2016 Connect conference in Dallas, Texas.

A representative from Campus Labs visited Niagara College on July 11 to present the award. The award included a $1,000 grant which will be donated to Niagara College’s Student Leadership Opportunities fund for students through NC’s Achieving Dreams Campaign.

“Niagara College is a multi-campus institution with an incredibly diverse student population, yet their platform creates a unified centralized online student hub for engagement, leadership, and student support opportunities,” said Katie Felton, consultant for Campus Success at Campus Labs. “They’ve used CollegiateLink in a variety of ways and we are so excited to see how they continue to grow.”
