Niagara College, Brock University, Canadian Mental Health Association and Pathstone Mental Health have partnered to raise awareness about mental health issues facing post-secondary students.
The 1 in 5 campaign will be held Oct. 10 and 11 at Niagara College.

One in five Canadians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime.
Staff and student volunteers will be wearing bright green t-shirts on Oct.. 10 and 11. The shirts and matching posters you will see on campus feature a QR code. The scanned code takes individuals directly to Pathstone Mental Health’s web page specifically for post-secondary students in the Niagara Region. It offers information about resources specifically for College and University students. Click here for more information.
There will also be an evening event at Brock University in Thistle 246 on Thursday, Oct.. 11 from 7-8:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. This student panel discussion will focus on personal, inspirational stories from students who have faced serious mental health challenges. The goal of the 1 in 5 campaign is to increase awareness about mental health issues, eliminate stigma and promote programs and resources that foster healthier minds on campus.
