College mourns loss of student Kate Dixon

The Niagara College community is mourning the death of student Kate Dixon, 22, who was killed in a tragic car accident Friday, June 8th in St. Catharines.  Kate, from Virgil, recently completed her second year in the Child and Youth Worker program.  She is survived by her parents, a brother, and extended family.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Kate’s family, friends, classmates and professors during this very sad time.  In Kate’s memory, campus flags have been lowered to half-staff.

A funeral Service will be held at the Church of the Transfiguration, 320 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines on Tuesday at 11am with cremation to follow. Memorial donations may be made to United Way of St. Catharines and District in Kate’s honour. Donations are also being accepted for the Kate Dixon Memorial Fund, a bursary that will help students in the Child and Youth Worker program.  Donate online at niagaracollege.ca/giving or call 905-735-2211, ext. 7775.
