Events to support bursary in memory of former NC prof

Two upcoming events will support  the Goldie Hill Memorial Bursary, named for a former professor and coordinator in the Social Service Worker program.

Hill’s daughter, Diane Matyas, has created the bursary to “continue her mother’s legacy of supporting the community.” Matyas is holding a Coffee Sampling fundraiser at the Seaway Mall on February 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the first annual Goldie Hill Memorial Bursary Dinner and Ballroom Dancing event on June 30, 2012 at the Hungarian Hall in Welland.

In addition to her work at Niagara College, Hill was a member of the board of directors for the United Way and the local women’s shelter, and a member of the planning and development committee for the Wesley-Robins Retirement Facility. Hill retired from Niagara College in 1994, and passed away in July, 2011.
