“When I began pursuing a career in sport, I visited several schools throughout Ontario before deciding to attend Niagara College. I found the Sport Management Program to be a tight-knit community which prepared me for a job in the sport industry through off-campus events and informative lectures. The day after I graduated, I was offered a position with the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG). I have been able to directly apply skills I learned at Niagara College to my every day career, and I will always be grateful to the professors who helped me along the way.”

“Being a sports fanatic, I knew that when it came down to picking a college program it was going to involve sports. I definitely made the right choice with Niagara College’s Sport Management Program. The program covered all aspects I needed to know about the business side of sport and taught me the necessary skills to get my foot in the door with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League. My internship with the Bulldogs led into a full time position in 2014.

I can now look back and appreciate how easy the transition was made going from the classroom to the workplace. I can’t thank my professors enough for everything they did for me.”

“Niagara College’s Sport Management program is one of the main reasons why I am in the Sport Industry today. The Professors of the sport management program have created an environment where academics and practicality are combined to provide students with an ideal learning experience. As the Business Development Coordinator at Cosmos Sports (www.cosmossports.com), I use skills learned in the classroom every day. More importantly however, the program taught me how to be a better leader, employee, and person. Through internships, practical courses, and effective mentoring, I feel I was prepared to succeed in the sport industry because of Niagara College’s Sport Management Program.”

“After deciding to switch careers, I researched various Colleges and found that Niagara College’s Sport Management program gave me the best opportunity to follow my dreams, which was to work in the sport industry. During my time in the program, I was provided the opportunity to learn about sports from a business perspective. After completing two internships with grassroots sport organizations, I learned more about marketing, ticket sales, game day operations, and customer service. The Sport Management program taught the necessary courses in order to help me be successful in a sports career. One month after completing the program, I obtained a position with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE). Without the guidance from the professors at Niagara College and the Sport Management program, I would not be where I am today.”

Account Manager, Inside Sales, Edmonton Oil Kings Hockey Club

“After attending College at a previous school, I took a year off before enrolling at Niagara College. During my time as a student in the Sports Management program, I learned from a business focused curriculum with an emphasis on the sports world. Taking an unconventional route through the program, I was able to focus all my efforts on completing course curriculum, before starting my full time internship in semi-professional sport. Throughout the program I learned about marketing, media, professional selling, operating sports facilities, and even tournament management. All of these classes helped me develop as a professional, and provided me with skills and knowledge that I still use today. Niagara College not only taught me the necessary course materials to be successful, but provided me the opportunity to really think about what I wanted to do in sport. Throughout the program, you are educated on the different areas of sport, and encouraged to think about what type of career path you want to pursue. I found the faculty to be great resources when figuring out my career path, building my resume, cover letter, and finding different job opportunities. Without the help from Niagara College, I would not have had the opportunity to develop and pursue my career in sport.”
