Niagara College Foundation
To comply with fair information practices, the Niagara College Foundation commits to respect and protect our donors' personal information through the following standards:
Accountability
The Foundation is responsible for any personal information under its control and will ensure the Privacy Legislation is followed. Information collected by the Foundation is typically a donor's name, address, phone number, business, spouse's name, and, if a Niagara College graduate, program and year.
Identifying purposes
Information is collected with the sole intent of servicing our donors to the best of our ability. A donor has the right to withhold any personal information, however doing so may hinder our ability to serve that donor to the best of our ability.
Consent
The Foundation only collects personal information for purposes we believe our donors would consider acceptable. A donor's consent is implied unless the donor advises us otherwise.
Third-party Disclosure
The Foundation at no time sells, shares or trades donor information with any other organization. Should this ever be required, a request in writing to our donors would first be obtained.
Collection and Use
The Foundation only collects information pertinent to servicing our donors. All information is obtained directly from our donors or from information in the public domain. Information collected is used only for the purposes of communicating with our donors.
Retention
The Foundation will not keep any personal information that is no longer required by our office. Donors requesting, preferably in writing, deletion from our mailing, phoning or solicitation lists will be removed immediately as requested.
Accuracy
The Foundation does its best to keep personal information for each of our donors up to date. The donor should make address, marital status or other pertinent information changes to the Foundation at the earliest opportunity to ensure the accuracy of our records.
Security
The Foundation only allows authorized personnel access to donors' personal information in either computer or hard copy form.
Access
The Foundation will, upon a request in writing from a donor, allow the donor to view, discuss and request addition of, deletion of, or changes to any personal information in our possession.
