Niagara College is offering $1,000 academic scholarships to Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) applicants who confirm their offer of acceptance before Monday, March 27, 2017.


Who’s eligible?

  • Applicants who have received, or are in the process of receiving, a Specialist High Skills Major credential, and
  • have an average of at least 75% in courses used for admission requirements into a related Niagara College program.

Some programs have additional requirements. Visit your program’s website for more information. Meeting minimum criteria for the scholarship does not necessarily guarantee entry to the program. Scholarships will be awarded based on grades received prior to the scholarship deadline. Applicants with a Specialist High Skill Major that does not match the Niagara programs identified in the categories above may still be considered for the scholarship on an individual basis.

How do I apply?

If an applicant meets the requirements and applies to a Niagara College program related to their SHSM credential, they will be offered the scholarship as part of their offer package. If the applicant confirms their offer with Ontariocolleges.ca by the due date (March 27, 2017), the $1,000 will be applied to the student’s account.

  • Are there any forms I need to fill out to apply for this award?
    The Scholarships will be assigned while the application is being assessed. Applicants who have a SHSM credential in progress and are applying for a related program and meet the scholarship requirements will be offered the scholarship as part of their offer package. If the student confirms their offer with Ontariocolleges.ca by the due date (March 27, 2017), the $1,000 will be applied to the student’s account.
  • Can I still get this award if I defer my offer to another intake?
    Award is associated with 2017 Fall program intakes. Awards cannot be deferred to another intake.
  • Can I still receive this award if I choose a non-related program?
    Award is associated with related programs as the SHSM certificate demonstrates an interest and preparedness for this field of study for incoming students
  • Can I pass the award on to anyone else such as a friend?
    No, the Scholarship is non-transferrable.
