Premier's Award Profile In the short time that Mark Montefiore has been in the film industry, his accomplishments are outstanding. Since graduating from the Broadcasting - Radio, Television and Film program in 2003, he has established himself as an award winning filmmaker and a successful television producer. His work has won widespread acclaim and has been aired in Canada and abroad.
Premier's Award (2007) Nominee Mark Montefiore Less than two years after graduation, Montefiore was the Production Manager on a 1.2 million dollar Bollywood-style production called "Bollydouble". He hired a local crew of sixty five people. The film, which has been viewed at many international festivals, involved large dance and fight numbers shot in Canada and the United States. Montefiore was the winner of the Banff World Television & Film Festival PITCH IT Competition – an award that helped him land a development deal with the major international entertainment company Decode Entertainment. The deal was for a series he created based on a short film called Career Day! (Now available for viewing at www.intake.ca). Montefiore was also the winner of the Corus Entertainment/Canadian Film and TV Production Association Young Filmmaker’s Initiative. Today, Montefiore’s impressive portfolio includes short films, television prime time series and commercials. His latest short film, "Back in ’93", will air on YTV and Bravo in early 2008. The film has already been screened at five film festivals including the Montreal World Film Fest. Montefiore will travel to Australia in November 2007 to finalize production plans for a prime time television series he created and sold. While many details of the series remain under wraps, Montefiore will say it focuses on the adventures of Canadians who take extended vacations in Australia. Another highlight of Montefiore’s young career is his acceptance into the prestigious Norman Jewison Canadian Film Centre Producer's Lab '06 for intensive creative producer training. |
