Niagara College's Centre for Environmental Training was established in 1991 with a mandate to become a centre of excellence in the Niagara Region and beyond for environmental training, education and research. Its mission includes the mandate to provide state-of-the-art and to promote technology transfer in the environmental field. The centre also has a mandate to work in partnership with the community and become a catalyst for economic development and growth in green and clean business and industries. The centre established and Advisory Board of Directors from business, industry, associations, government and education. Its programs and goals include the establishment of post-secondary and graduate certificate programs, industrial and customized training, certification training, upgrading for technicians and technologists, adult training and upgrading, special initiatives, market research, international initiatives, and partnership development. The centre's programs and services are designed to assist clients to achieve their economic and environmental goals within the framework of sustainable development - development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
