Disabilities and You (Disability Overviews and Accommodations)

The following will provide information relating to specific disabilities and academic accommodations that are sometimes used to enable students with disabilities to work at their full potential.

Disability Accommodations

Assistance, available through our offices, may relieve academic or social barriers and help you to more readily adjust to college life. Even though you are responsible for meeting academic requirements, we can help in a variety of ways.

Examples of accommodations available include:

  • note takers
  • peer tutors - See: Peer Services (www.niagaracollege.ca/tutor)
  • test/exam time extensions
  • scribes
  • books on tape, E-text
  • learning strategies training
  • assistive technology training

Please note: If you require a sign language interpreter or books on tape, we need to know as soon as possible to ensure prompt accommodations.
