Niagara College employs an Assistive Technologist to assist students with learning disabilities to achieve their full potential while coping with a disability.
The right technology used correctly can change everything! Assistive Technologies consists of any device that allows an individual to accomplish a task by minimizing the affects of a disability.
In order to access these services a student must first meet with a disability counsellor and provide a valid confirmation of a learning disability.
Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Inspiration, Note taking devices, FM systems and PDA's are just a few of the AT programs and devices that are available for disabled students to evaluate while at Niagara College. Make an appointment with a Disability Counsellor to find out more.

Mind mapping software
A planning tool. The Learning Stratigest may have showed you this strategy on paper.
There are assistive technology computer labs that disabled students can have access to during school hours located at both campuses. Rooms SE102 in Welland and the left side of the NOTL Campus Library are where students can get access to the labs.
Note: These labs are sometimes used for accommodated test taking and are not always available for this reason.
Niagara College provides AT training to learning disabled students through the services of the Assistive Technologist.
Technology alone is not enough and the real value of Assistive Technology is seen only when the appropriate strategies are used. The right technology used correctly can change everything!
