ENGL1221 - Business Communication - Law Clerk

Course Description:
This course will introduce the student to business communication through a study of letter and memo writing specific for a legal office. Students will examine in detail the characteristics of style and tone which are necessary for effective written communication in a variety of legal office situations. As well, students will be given the opportunity to learn the correct placement of letter and memo parts in a variety of styles used in legal office correspondence. Appropriate strategies for writing letters and memos such as goodwill, good news, neutral, refusal, and persuasive messages will be mastered using cases pulled from legal files.
