Course Title: Analog Electronic Circuits and Applications

View Course Outline

Code: ELNC1330P

Admit Term: 2018 Fall 1184

Credits: 4

Description

Students will be introduced to the fundamental principles of the Operational Amplifier (OP-AMP) and its roll in industrial applications. These principles will serve as the basis for developing skills in analyzing and solving generalized and specific forms of open and closed loop amplifier circuits. Topics include OP-AMP basics, derivation of formulae, inverting and non-inverting amplifiers, comparators and level detectors, instrumentation amplifiers, use in linear and non-linear transducers, integrators and differentiators, PID controllers and motor control applications, stability and loop tuning. Beyond the OP-AMP, the ongoing role of discrete electronics in interfacing modern digital systems, like PLCs, to industrial signals and electromechanical control devices, will also be studied.
