Course Title: Advanced Digital Systems and Microcontrollers for TechniciansView Course Outline
Admit Term: 2018 Fall 1184
This is a course for the study of digital system fundamentals. Digital concepts presented in class are applied to lab exercises using FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) on the Altera DE0 (development and education) board and the PIC18F4520 Microcontroller Board. The DE0 is used to build a VHDL arithmetic system, a RAM light sequencer system, and interface a Hitachi HD44780 a "Dot Matrix Display" (DMD). The PIC18F4520 is used to write assembly language programs to add numbers, read data from switches, count on bar LEDs, use lookup tables, use software timers, use hardware timers, interface a 7 segment LED display, interface a DMD, and interface a matrix keypad.
