Description

In this course you will learn digital system fundamentals. Digital concepts presented in class will be applied to lab exercises using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) on the Altera Development & Education (DE) trainer. Topics include: logic gates; logic system design using gate combinations and VHDL (Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language); switch bounce solutions; flip-flop theory; shift register theory; counter theory; VHDL counters; VHDL shift registers; and frequency divider theory. You will build the following systems: vending machine; drill machine; switch de-bounce; serial data transfer; a parking garage controller; and a stopwatch.
