Description

This course provides a close look at discrete amplifiers using bipolar and field effect transistors. DC biasing of bipolar transistor is reviewed and proceeds into the study AC analysis of audio voltage and current amplifiers. Audio power amplifiers, class A,B,AB, are analyzed with a complete cascaded audio amplifier model. Students will study the Junction Field Effect Transistors and its application as an amplifier and buffer before examining the power MOSFET and IGBT applications. An introduction to Thyristors, firing circuts and their single phase application are analyzed. This course provides a hands-on experience building and analyzing the most common and practical electronic configuration using many active devices. Emphasis is placed on practical circuit application, troubleshooting and design.
