Why Choose This Program?

The Mechanical Techniques - Multi-Skills Development Program provides you with the necessary competency-based skills to enter a career as a skilled trades worker. This hands-on program is designed to increase your marketability in seeking a career and/or apprenticeship, and will provide you with an excellent skill-set to enter the comprehensive job market in various mechanical trades.

This program provides the theoretical and practical knowledge of many aspects of the skilled mechanical trades and prepares you with job ready skills that today's employers are seeking. In this program, you will develop a versatile set of transferable skills, which will enable you to install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot industrial equipment.

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, including the following required courses:
    • English - any Grade 12 (C) or (U), or equivalent.
    • Mathematics - Grade 11 (C), (U) or (M), or equivalent.

Recommended Courses and/or Recommended Skills (Not Required for Admission):

  • Manufacturing Engineering Technology - Grade 11 or 12 (C) or (E).
  • Technological Design Grade 11 or 12 (C) or (E).
  • Mathematics - any Grade 12 (C) or (U).

Selection and Ranking Process:

  • For competitive programs (the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available places), selection will be based on the highest senior level final grade available at the time of ranking. Mid-term grades are not used for ranking purposes.
  • Testing or other supplemental evaluation may be required.

Note:

  • Secondary School grades from co-op courses and half credit courses are not considered.

Niagara College has articulated agreements providing students with degree completion and credit transfer opportunities with many other colleges and universities.
