Five Frequently Asked Questions Regarding This Program

  1. Is there a Coop? – Yes there is and we work with you in your first semester to develop an action plan.
  2. What are the job opportunities upon graduation? – This a business based program so employment is typically found in management, sales and marketing positions. The Tourism industry prides itself on hiring managers you have frontline experience so use your coop to acquire this know-how.
  3. How will the classes be taught? – We use a combination of lectures, seminars, field trips and online classes. Be prepared to work on team projects.
  4. Will we be able to interact with the Tourism leaders? – Yes, from industry based projects to the international trip/cruise to regular guest speakers to class.
  5. Can I go on to University after I graduate? – Yes, there are articulation agreements with several post secondary institutions including University Of New Brunswick and Griffith University in Australia. Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, including the following required courses:
    • English - any Grade 12 (C) or (U), or equivalent.

Recommended Courses and/or Recommended Skills (Not Required for Admission):

  • Tourism - Grade 12 (C).
  • Regional Geography: Travel and Tourism - Grade 11 (O).
  • Introduction to Marketing - Grade 11 (C).
  • Information Technology Applications in Business - Grade 11 (O).

Selection and Ranking Process:

  • For competitive programs (the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available places), selection will be based on the highest senior level final grade available at the time of ranking. Mid-term grades are not used for ranking purposes.
  • Testing or other supplemental evaluation may be required.

Note:

Secondary School grades from co-op courses and half credit courses are not considered.

Transportation:

Students are responsible for their own transportation in order to complete work placement requirements. Niagara cannot guarantee placements that are readily accessible by public transportation. Students are responsible for all costs connected with such transportation.

Niagara College has articulated agreements providing students with degree completion and credit transfer opportunities with many other colleges and universities.
