The NC Difference

  • Hands-on training includes co-op experience, practical exercises in on-campus environmental labs and on the college grounds, off-campus lab sessions and field trips
  • College partners with Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority
  • Graduates can pursue graduate certificates in Ecosystem Restoration, Environmental Management and Assessment and Geographic Information Systems
  • Certification training is available in the Ministry of Environment’s Drinking Water Operator course
  • Graduates with relevant experience can seek Canadian Environmental Practitioner in Training (CEPIT), Water Quality Analyst (WQA) and Certified Technician (OACETT) certification
  • All students can participate in Niagara Environmental Corps (NEC), the college’s award-winning student-led organization proactively solving environmental issues
  • Students may seek Niagara Research assistant positions and participate in environmental research projects with industry and government partners

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, including the following required courses:
    • English - any Grade 12 (C) or (U), or equivalent.
    • Mathematics - any Grade 12 (C) or (U), or equivalent.
    • Chemistry - Grade 11 (U) or Grade 12 (C) or (U)

Recommended Courses and/or Recommended Skills (Not Required for Admission):

  • Biology - Grade 11 (C) or (U) or Grade 12 (U).

Selection and Ranking Process:

  • For competitive programs (the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available places), selection will be based on the highest senior level final grade available at the time of ranking. Mid-term grades are not used for ranking purposes.
  • Testing or other supplemental evaluation may be required.

Note:

  • Secondary School grades from co-op courses and half credit courses are not considered.

Program Requirements

Students are responsible for their own transportation in order to complete practical lab requirements. Niagara cannot guarantee placements that are readily accessible by public transportation. Students are responsible for all costs connected with such transportation.

Educational Pathways

Niagara College has articulated agreements providing students with degree completion and credit transfer opportunities with many other colleges and universities.
