As a training centre for healthcare professionals in Niagara and Ontario, the new $40-million Applied Health Institute located on the Welland Campus offers state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories for all of the college's applied health programs. Nursing labs are equipped with high-tech mannequins programmed to display real vital signs. Pharmacy labs simulate true-to-life retail and hospital settings complete with "in" and "out" prescription order areas and flow-through windows for IVs. The new community dental clinic features the latest technology with digital x-ray and screening, offering quality care to local residents.
With all of the college's applied health programs under one roof - including Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, Dental Office Administration, Pharmacy Technician, Retail Pharmacy Assistant, Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant, Pre-Health Sciences, Personal Support Worker, and Practical Nursing - students gain a better understanding of how they will work together as part of healthcare team in the future.
