Financial Aid and Awards

Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded for scholastic achievement. In certain cases, financial need may be taken into account as a secondary criterion to decide between candidates of approximately equal achievement.

Community and volunteer involvement is often considered when awarding scholarships, and review committees will often contact community or volunteer references that are provided for additional background as to your relationships with these organizations.

Bursaries

A Bursary is a grant that is distributed on the basis of financial need. When applying for a bursary you must complete an application form detailing your current financial status.

Inspired by retired General Rick Hillier and Honorary Lt. Colonel Kevin Reed, Project Hero is a program through which colleges and universities offer scholarships and bursaries for dependent children of Canadian Forces personnel killed while serving in an active military mission.

Project Hero is a way for the College to recognize the sacrifices made by Canadian men and women in defence of freedom around the world while creating opportunities for young people who may otherwise be unable to pursue their dreams. Niagara College is very proud to join this important initiative.

The scholarship program will provide tuition and help to offset other expenses for the duration of the recipient’s full-time program of study.

The Project Hero Scholarship Fund furthers Niagara College’s commitment to providing financial assistance to help students and parents with the costs associated with post-secondary education.
