About This Certificate

There is a growing concern for the safety of people in their work environment and the related hazards that may be found there.

Prompted by governments and their agencies, labour and management have identified the need for greater experience, knowledge and expertise in the field of occupational safety and health for the protection of people in the workplace.

This program provides you with solid training in the required practices of occupational safety and health.

In addition to providing the fundamentals, the program includes a management component that gives you the know-how to oversee workplace safety programs and offer solutions.

Program Delivery

Individual courses are open to all students whether or not they are working toward the certificate.

Prerequisites may be required for these courses. Please refer to individual course descriptions for specific requirements.

Career Opportunities

This certificate prepares graduates for entry level positions in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.

Possible Career paths include:

  • Health and Safety Assistant
  • Safety Evaluator
  • Occupational Health and Safety Co-ordinator

Obtaining Your Certificate (Application for Graduation)

Upon completion of all requirements, the student must complete an “Application For Graduation” form available from the Registrar’s Office.

If the student wishes to have their certificate presented to them at convocation ceremony in the Fall, there is a $25 fee.

Application, accompanied by fee (if applicable) must be forwarded to Registration and Records, Office of the Registrar before the application deadline.
