About This Certificate

The hospitality and tourism industries continue to grow in the Niagara Region. This certificate will allow you to be part of this growing and expanding service which has become a major contributor to the economic growth of Ontario.

The Baking Certificate has been designed to provide you with a foundation for a rewarding career in baking. You will gain knowledge and skills in the tools and techniques in baking, pastry and cake making. The practical portion of the instruction takes place in a fully equipped state of the art bakery lab.

Talented, creative bakers are always in demand. It is a great way to enter the industry with credentials from a recognized international educational institution.

Program Delivery

All courses in this certificate are offered in class with the majority of the time spent in the baking lab.

Individual courses are open to all students whether or not they are working toward the certificate.

Prerequisites may be required for these courses. Please refer to individual course descriptions for specific requirements.

Important Notes

Those wishing to apply for transfer credit into a full time post secondary program in the culinary field may be required to meet additional admission requirements.

Certificate Benefits

Credits earned from successfully completing this certificate can be applied for credit towards Niagara College’s full time post secondary programming and may be eligible to receive credit towards the Baking Apprenticeship program.

Obtaining Your Certificate (Application for Graduation)

Upon completion of all requirements, the student must complete an “Application For Graduation” form available from the Registrar’s Office.

If the student wishes to have their certificate presented to them at convocation ceremony in the Fall, there is a $25 fee.

Application, accompanied by fee (if applicable) must be forwarded to Registration and Records, Office of the Registrar before the application deadline.
